How long should my hair be before I wax?

Hair should be about ¼ inch long — roughly the size of a grain of rice — for the wax to grip effectively. If you've been shaving, wait at least 2–3 weeks before your appointment.

How long will my wax last?

Results typically last 3–4 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle — but here’s the secret: Your best results kick in after 2–3 sessions as your hair growth cycles sync. That’s when the smooth really starts to last.

Does waxing hurt?

Let’s be real — it’s not a tickle. But it’s also not as bad as you think! Discomfort is quick, and with expert technique (hi, that’s us) and regular appointments, it gets easier every time.

How should I prep before my wax?

  • Gently exfoliate the area 24 hours before

  • Come with clean, dry skin — no lotions or oils

  • Avoid caffeine the day of (it can make you more sensitive!)

  • Wear loose, comfy clothing to your appointment

What’s the difference between bikini, modified bikini, and Brazilian?

  • Bikini: Hair outside the underwear line

  • Modified Bikini: A little more taken off the top and sides

  • Brazilian: Everything gone (or leave a strip/triangle — your call!)

Can I get waxed while on my period?

Yes! Just wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup. Keep in mind, you might be a little more sensitive during your cycle — but we’ve seen it all, no judgment here.

What should I avoid after waxing?

For the first 24–48 hours, skip:

  • Hot baths or showers

  • Sweating/workouts

  • Tanning or sun exposure

  • Tight clothing

  • Touching the area too much (hands off!)

  • No lotions, oils or exfoliating

  • We recommend avoiding intimacy for 24 hours after intimate area waxes to limit the introduction of potential bacteria to the area.

Do you offer anything for aftercare?

Yes — we use and recommend Bushbalm™ post-wax care products in the studio. We're product nerds over here, and we’ll guide you to what’s best for your skin goals.

Is there an age requirement to get waxed?

You must be 18+ for intimate waxing services. For teens under 18, we require parental consent for non-intimate areas.

Can men get waxed at NEWD?

Absolutely! We offer a curated selection of men’s waxing services. We keep it clean, professional, and respectful — no awkward vibes here. But we do not offer Male Anatomy Brazilian Waxing.
